Is it legal?

HeyWatch is self-hosted software: you install it on your own machine and you choose what to load. Same model as Plex, Jellyfin or a hard drive. We don't host any content. The responsibility for what you watch is yours, just like when you download something on your own.

Do I need a computer always on?

Yes, to access from outside your home. Any computer works: a Mac, an old PC, a Raspberry Pi or a Synology NAS. Installation takes 5 minutes.

Does it work on iPhone without installing anything?

Yes. HeyWatch works in your phone's browser, no App Store needed. You can install it as an "app" from Safari (Add to Home Screen) and it gets its own icon, full screen, notifications — the full app experience.

Why is the free plan home-only?

Accessing from outside requires maintaining a tunnel + a fixed subdomain + support. That has real infrastructure and work cost. At home, in contrast, everything runs on your WiFi without us spending a cent — that's why it's free forever.

Do I have to pay forever? What if I quit HeyWatch?

The server is yours: if you drop Pro, you keep using it at home forever. And if you leave HeyWatch entirely, your library, files and data don't go anywhere: they're on your disk.

What about my privacy?

Everything you watch lives in your home. We don't see what you search, what you play or who you share with. The only things our central system tracks are operational: that your server is online and what version it runs, so we can deliver updates.
